HR and Strategy - where true business partnership happens
It’s time to talk HR strategy. A big topic at the start of the year. But an important one. One of the key things that makes HR an excellent partner to the business and adds real value to their organisation. Unfortunately though sometimes it’s one of the things that HR teams don’t focus enough on.
HR strategy doesn’t need to be overwhelming or complicated, but it does need to ensure it is aligned with an organisation’s business strategy and it can be operationalised.
Did you know that strategic HR is essential to every stage of the employee life cycle? From resourcing and recruitment, before someone even joins an organisation; through to activities such as training and development?
Also essential is having an HR strategy in times of organisational change, to ensure the workforce can best support the changing needs of the organisation.
Does your organisation have an HR strategy?
If you do, here’s a few questions to ask:
- Does it adequately inform your HR activities, as it should be more than a few post-it-notes or some statements on a page. A good HR strategy should bring to life your day-to-day activities, be accountable, and be measurable.
- Is it regularly referenced in your working week, or is it one of those documents that just gathers dust and is never opened?
- Is it time you reviewed your HR strategy and gave it a refresh to ensure it is aligned with internal business strategy as well as external forces? We live in a constantly dynamic and changing environment and no strategy can afford to be stagnant.
Use this as your reminder to put HR strategy in the spotlight to help set your function up for success and achieving great things in 2025.
